Clinical Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of total relaxation within the body and a state of heightened awareness within the mind. In this relaxed state of hypnosis the subconscious part of the mind is more receptive.

What is Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to facilitate change. Hypnosis is a natural method of lulling the conscious mind in order to reach the subconscious. When the subconscious is spoken to directly, old patterns and conditioning can be reprogrammed and new ideas and positive suggestions can be introduced. These positive suggestions can then be used to help make the changes you desire. Agreed positive suggestions can be placed into the subconscious level of the mind while you are in the relaxed state of hypnosis. During hypnosis you will never act upon any suggestions that you do not agree with.

What is a Hypnotherapy session like?

The hypnotherapist acts as a guide to help you make the changes you have decided to make. Your conscious mind will be guided to a state of deep relaxation – similar to daydreaming. To induce this state of relaxation the hypnotherapist may use various techniques such as deep breathing, muscle relaxation, or imagery.

From there the hypnotherapist can use numerous methods to teach your subconscious new ideas and patterning. Common methods include visualization, guided imagery and suggestions. At times you may listen and participate silently as the hypnotherapist guides you. Other times you may be a more “active” participant, answering questions and giving feedback to the hypnotherapist.

When the proper suggestions and imagery have been completed, you will be gently emerged. Most often people feel rested, relaxed and refreshed after a hypnosis session.

Is Hypnotherapy safe?

Yes. It is very safe when used by a qualified hypnotherapist. You remain in control at all times. You can not be forced to say, do, or accept anything that you are not comfortable with. In fact, you can choose to enter or leave the hypnotic state at anytime.
